A roofer who tells you what your roof actually needs

Most people call us after a storm, and most people have already been knocked on by three out-of-state crews. Here is how we are different: we go up on the roof, we photograph what we find, and we tell you whether you have a claim, a repair, or nothing at all.

Nixa Roof Co is owned by Jeremy McMillan, who has been building and repairing homes in the Ozarks since 2002. Your roof is scoped by the owner, not by a commission-only salesman passing through after a hailstorm. We work in Nixa, Ozark, Springfield, Republic, Battlefield, and the surrounding Christian and Greene County communities year round — not just in storm season.

  • Free, documented inspection. Photos of every slope, every penetration, and every elevation, whether or not the answer is good news for us.
  • Real line-item estimates. Written the same way your insurance carrier writes theirs, so the two documents can be compared side by side.
  • We fight for the right scope. When a carrier's estimate misses code items, drip edge, ice-and-water, or a damaged elevation, we file a supplement with photos and measurements.
  • No deductible games. Missouri law requires you to pay your deductible. Anyone who offers to waive it is asking you to commit fraud, and putting your claim at risk.

Hail and wind claims are most of what we do

The Ozarks sit in one of the busiest hail corridors in the country. A single spring storm can total roofs across half a subdivision — and the damage is often invisible from the driveway.

We inspect for bruised and fractured shingle mats, granular loss, soft metals denting on vents and gutters, and wind-lifted or creased shingles. We chalk and photograph test squares the way an adjuster does, so what we hand your carrier looks like what they expect to see. When we pull the storm record for your address, it comes from NOAA's public hail and wind database — not from a sales script.

If your claim was denied or underpaid, we can put together a written second look: NOAA storm history for your date of loss, re-documented photos, and a line-by-line comparison against the carrier's own estimate.

Questions homeowners ask us first

Does insurance pay for a whole new roof, or just repairs?

It depends on how much of the roof is damaged and what your policy says. In Missouri, most homeowner policies cover hail and wind damage. If an adjuster finds enough hits per test square, the carrier typically pays to replace the slope or the roof rather than patch it. If the damage is isolated, they pay for a repair. We document the roof either way and give you the honest read — a repair does not become a replacement because it is easier to sell.

How old is too old for a hail claim?

Age alone does not disqualify a roof. What matters is whether your policy pays replacement cost value (RCV) or actual cash value (ACV). With an RCV policy, a 20-year-old roof with covered damage still gets paid at replacement cost minus your deductible. With ACV, the carrier deducts depreciation and you cover the rest. Check the dwelling section of your policy, or send it to us and we will read it with you.

Will I have to pay my deductible?

Yes. On an insurance-funded roof, your deductible is your part of the job — that is the law in Missouri, and any contractor who offers to "eat" or "waive" it is asking you to take part in insurance fraud. We will never do that, and you should not hire anyone who will.

How long does a roof replacement take?

A typical Ozarks house is one day for tear-off and install, plus a cleanup pass. Bigger or steeper roofs, or homes with multiple layers, run two days. Weather is the only wildcard, and we would rather move a start date than dry-in a roof we cannot finish.
